Elected Divan 2018

Each year, the Nobility of Al Kader elects a set of Officers to lead their efforts for that year. These Officers—the Elected Divan—include the Potentate, the Chief Rabban, Assistant Rabban, High Priest and Prophet, Oriental Guide, Recorder and Treasurer.

Al Kader Shriners Divan 2018

Divan Ladies News

Mark C. Phillips, Oriental Guide
June 2018

If I have learned anything in my short life, it’s that guys sometimes need to get out of the way and let the ladies take charge of things. A case in point is this year’s Newport Parade on May 5, 2018.

Hospital Support Club - 2018

One of the Divan Ladies (my wife Deanna) contacted the local Safeway and Fred Mayer bakeries to obtain doughnuts for hungry Shriners’ consumption during the staging of the Newport Parade. The stores were only too willing to help; they love Shriners and gave us a total of 10 dozen fresh doughnuts. Lady Deanna knew that she wanted to share the fun, so she contacted several aides and other Divan Ladies for assistance in distributing the goodies. They too were only too happy to get involved.

The doughnuts were free-of-charge, but Shriners (and some non-Masonic passers-by too) were invited to make donations to the Transportation Fund. By the start of the parade, the doughnuts were gone and the donation cup was full. The funds have been delivered safely to our beloved Recorder at Al Kader. Thank you, Ladies!
