A more recent
addition to the
uniformed Units
is the Al Kader
Calliope Corps.
They have
responsibility
for the care and
upkeep of our
1926 Symphonic
Whistler
Calliope, as
well as their
newer
locomotive, “The
Eva,” which tows
the calliope
trailer in
parades. The
locomotive was
built from the
ground up by
Noble Ken Self
using many items
borrowed from
his wife Eva’s
kitchen when
suitable parts
couldn’t be
located. Al Kader’s calliope
is a very
popular fixture
in many parades,
including the
Portland Rose
Festival’s
Starlight
Parade.

Oregon Charitable Checkoff News
Since 2005, the hospital has participated in the Charitable Checkoff Program, a statewide program for Oregon taxpayers to designate all or part of their tax refunds to support the hospital's Orthotics and Prosthetics program.
